A minimum may apply to a product, a variant, a case or the total order. Ask which level the stated minimum refers to.
Practical Considerations
A buyer may be allowed to combine products to reach a total order minimum while still meeting a separate case requirement for each item. These conditions should be written as separate lines in the quotation.
Suggested Procedure
- Record the minimum for each item.
- Record any minimum for each color or size.
- Confirm whether mixed items count toward an order total.
Illustrative Example
An order minimum of one hundred units does not necessarily permit ten units of ten colors. The supplier may require a full pack of each selected color.
Points to Check
Do not assume a minimum is negotiable or fixed indefinitely. Request the conditions applicable to the specific quotation and date.
