Unit Price, Pack Price and Case Price
Prices can be quoted for one loose item, one retail pack or a case containing several packs. Convert quotations to the same saleable unit before comparing them.
Practical Considerations
Write down the number of saleable units represented by each price. Do not divide by a piece count when the pieces must remain together as one retail set.
Suggested Procedure
- Identify the priced unit.
- Count complete saleable units in that priced unit.
- Divide the quoted amount by that count.
Illustrative Example
A case priced at $96 with twelve saleable packs has an $8 goods cost per pack before other charges. If each pack contains four pieces sold together, dividing by forty-eight pieces would answer a different question.
Points to Check
Keep additional charges separate until they have been allocated. The lowest goods price is not necessarily the lowest delivered cost.
